TGIF: Costume Ideas for 2013
I've always loved October. No, not for pumpkin spice lattes (which I've actually never tried) or for the colorful leaves (rare in the Evergreen state), but instead because of Halloween. I don't think there's anything better than getting to be someone completely different for a day without getting judgy glances from passersbys. In the past my costumes have ranged from Katy Perry to the Black Swan and this year I'm continuing my triumphant pop culture reign by being a SPRING BREAKERS cast member. Yes, I have bought a neon pink sky mask and fake weapon. I'm very excited. And I most certainly plan on playing Skrillex at my party. But if you aren't quite as obsessed/crazy as me and are still looking for a costume , here are a few ideas to help:
1. Miley Cyrus + Robin Thicke
*I tried to find a non disturbing photo of the two but I couldn't do it, so you're going to have to search it on your own time*
Necessary items:
Miley
- (very) short nude/shiny colored shorts
- nude bra
- clear rubber bands for Spice Girls buns
- red lipstick
- giant foam finger (optional), but please, act semi respectful
Mr. Thicke
- Striped suit or pants+top
- copious amounts of hair product
- detachable microphone or karaoke machine to continuously sing into
2. Prison Inmate
If you haven't watched "Orange is the New Black" yet then I don't know what you've been doing. This Netflix original series is pretty great (although fairly R rated) and also a great source of inspiration for an interesting costume.
Necessary items:
- prison jumpsuit (online or at party store)
- disheveled hair, or cornrows
- combat boots

3. Rihanna
Go big. Wear a grill. Ok, or at least mold some aluminum foil to your teeth because grill's are actually like hundreds of dollars (though I'm truly sorry if you get metal poisoning ). But the key is, don't be shy. You can even rock a mullet since that seems to be Riri's latest fave 'do. But please, do wear a shirt.
Necessary items:
- i-phone to take Instagram selfies a la the pop queen herself
- golden/silver accessories for the teeth
- sky high heels (especially thigh high ones)
- on trend baseball cap
- a wig (choose any of her styles you wish, and there's a ton to choose from)
