Self Assured

Sweatshirt: Urban Outfitters x Unif, Pants & Shoes: Zara,  Coat: Target

A great outfit makes you feel cocky.

I don't mean cocky in a Scot Disick popping bottles in Miami way, I mean cocky in a Kanye at LAX "Do you see this coat?" kind of way. If there was a scientific way to measure how much better you feel wearing something you love I would do it just to prove this point. Why spend your life dressed in mediocre clothing when you can wear something creative & comfortable that feels a little bit more like you? Money in no way is required to have great style. I've found some of my most loved apparel at thrift shops and run of the mill fast fashion joints. So in the most cheesy and capitalist statement yet: just do it.

Ps. I've been loving mixing casual sportswear garb with more luxurious pieces lately. This black (faux) fur coat and Unif sweatshirt combo feels like the perfect mixture of cool and collected. Nothing outside the box, but still not another t-shirt and bomber jacket...

Baby why so cold?

Fall in Los Angeles.

As the sun withdraws to a lukewarm 70 degrees, the vibe of the city is a little off. Without the sweltering heat and continuous sunshine the City of Angels seems almost normal? Maybe even a little darker.

There's something about bright turquoise hair that just makes you take everything a little less seriously (in the best way possible). My hair is more colorful than ever and I think it adds a touch of nonchalant attitude to my daily outfits. Or maybe I just feel like I look cooler than I actually am, and if I can look a little cool then maybe I can eventually be half as cool as Rihanna,.

See its all very logical.

Double the style means double the fun, and double the trouble.
So throw on that pleated skirt with your varsity jacket and form a girl gang.

Psychedelic Tigers

Slits on skirts are all fun and games until you realize they don't exactly stay in place when you walk down the street....

Regardless of the difficulty of moving from point A to point B in this skirt I do admire its aesthetic appeal. And hey, the cashier at Urban Outfitters "liked my dress" so I guess its not altogether unappealing. Though I think I'll stick to my un-slitted pencil skirts for going to class and move this skirt to my "inside only occasions" closet section.

My trusty 1970's shirt however continues to work its way through my wardrobe in all its 100% non natural fabric glory. I wouldn't be mad at all if someone decided to gift me another psychedelic printed top for Christmas, or New Years, or say just a Friday night gift of friendship.

Happy Holidaze!

Oh and in case you wonder what I sometimes splurge on:

Doesn't it look dreamy?
Coffee at il caffe on Broadway is a personal favorite of mine now as the vibe of the cafe is very different from the Starbucks of the surrounding area (plus they have delicious french bread sandwiches). Expect to see well dressed women and men with beards frantically typing away at their Mac's.

Cut-Out High Waist Brief & Silence and Noise Riley Mesh Thong
Got a pair of high waisted black underwear and a pair in a lovely emerald color at Urban today, and I might have to somewhat blame this impulse buy on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last night as there were some amazing black lace pieces on there that I would have loved to own.

One Time for my LA Sisters

Sometimes the past is the best inspiration. Today's outfit is undeniably 1990's, from the denim overalls to the bucket hat and Calvin Klein set. Yet even with its very throwback origins it manages to look fresh as ever for 2014. Although this look has been done countless times and seems to continue its voyage through the Tumblr realm, I still don't get tired of it. There's something about the combination of comfort and attitude that is just so right.

See what I'm saying:
R&B queen Aaliyah

Modern day rapper (and my favorite) Chance (the Rapper)
Vintage Ms.Moss in those infamous pants

Kendall in her Calvins
LL Cool J sporting a bucket
Internet starlets with buckets will never get old
